This spring has been a wet one. However we managed to get in some green plots and they are looking great. We have been working on some new setups with the help of our good friend Steve Bartylla. Clover plots that we planted last year that struggled through the hot dry summer look awesome and lush now. We now are waiting for weather to dry a little to plant our grain plots (corn and beans). Late summer we will also plant some more greens. Turkey season was a little weird this year, birds seemed quiet and non responsive. We managed to fool a few of the birds – patience was the best tactic this spring. We found some good sheds and now the bucks are already showing good amount of growth. It won’t be long until the scouting photos start coming in and we start videoing fields and kick off our summer scouting. June will begin the application process for Non Resident archery hunters. You can apply on line at http://dnr.state.il.us/ and go to DNR Direct Online License Sales or by phone at 1-888-673-7648. Non Resident firearm and Muzzleloader permits applications will be available in July. Have a great summer!
